kanzashi

Last night I made a kanzashi. They are Japanese pieces to wear in your hair. Here is an attempt I made.
And here is a professional one.

Oh Megan, that's adorable! That's what I want for my birthday! That's so Japanese! Did you find instructions, or did you just eyeball it?

Those are cute. :) I've never seen them before, despite being a Japan-enthusiast.

I found the instructions. I like a lot of Japanese things too, amigurumi, origami, kimonos, kanzashi, rice.....

Genmai-cha!

Rice!! <33 Neccessity of life. I love kimonos as well. Along with the fact the Japanese are technological geniuses and have awesome comics. (*addicted to manga*)

Oh, and this is actually Muse of Randomness... My friend's blog had malfunctioned (or something) and since she doesn't have internet access right now and doesn't know what's happening I had to fix it and right now I'm too lazy to sign out of her account.

I think my next sewing project is going to be a kimono. I've had this desire to wear a kimono since I was like 4, so I think I will finally make one. Though I might look really strange..... It would be so fun if someone showed up while I was wearing it. Or maybe just walk up to the mailbox (its a 1/3 mile away) and wave to people. I did that in my hoop skirt last summer, it was fun. I got some weird looks.

My mom and I were thinking about it, I'd need her help considering I can't sew to save my life. I've wanted to wear kimonos for a long time as well, I always wanted to dress like Sailor Moon as well (haha... I feel like a total nerd...). Most people I know wouldn't be very surprised to see me in a kimono, I have a slightly Asian (Filipino) look to me and a well known tendency to wear clothing no one else around here would.

People probably wouldn't be too surprised to see me in a kimono, they have seen me in stranger..... But I don't think I could look Asian to save my life.

Yeah, I haven't seen a lot of blond, blue-eyed Asians.

Andrea said...

I've seen blond, but they were all dyed. No blue-eyed though. Unless they vwere cosplaying or something.

Megan said...

Well, Anna is a Blonde. Her mom is Swedish and her dad is Japanese.

Hannah said...

True, but she has more of blond highlights, not completely blond.
