Rat Poison, Milk, and a Chicken

Isn't cleaning out your desk drawer fun?! This is something I found that I had written a few years back. Tell me what you think!

Opera nom. 4
On a unclouded day a cheerful chicken farmer set out to butcher a plump hen for dinner. After swinging it around he sets it on the chopping block, but looking at its black expressionless eyes the chicken farmer’s heart gave a little plea for the pore hen’s existence. Before he knew it he hid her away, but avoiding his wife for she already had a stew on, and was waiting for the tender meat of the freshly decapitated hen.
But all too soon the chicken farmer’s wife found out, and soon located the concealed hen. Within moments the hen’s head was severed from its body and was in the stew.
Seeds of resentment grew in the no longer cheerful chicken farmer, and was not before long on his was to town to purchase rat poison to put in the milk bowl of his wive’s favorite cat, in retaliation off the hens demise.
Early the next morning before his wife was awake the seething chicken farmer went down into the kitchen and put the rat poison into the jug of milk. Knowing that his wife would give the fresh milk to the cat and yesterdays left over milk to him like always. Then the giddy with pleasure chicken farmer went out to feed the animals.
Later that morning his wife feeling regretful over killing the hen, and not regarding her husband’s desire to spare the hens life, decided to make his favorite breakfast, cinnamon rolls with fresh homemade icing.
Poring the milk into the powdered sugar to make the icing while the rolls baked, the wife called her husband through the window to come in and get washed up for breakfast.
When the giddy chicken farmer came into the house and smelt the freshly baked rolls he immediately felt bad over the even thought of killing his wife’s cat. He went into the kitchen to throw out the milk, and to apologize to his wife. But before he had a opportunity, the aroma of freshly baked cinnamon rolls overwhelmed him and he sat down at the table and began to eat. Warm icing dribbled down his face and the fresh rolls almost melted in his mouth. But suddenly the farmer fell over and was no longer. Later investigation found rat poison in the icing off cinnamon rolls, and his wife was sent to prison for the homicide of her husband.
After a 15 year sentence, and parole for good behavior, the chicken farmers wife went home. Seeing her husbands old coat hanging in the door went crazy. The next day she went to town and bought a new chick at the market to replace the one she had killed 15 years ago.
Years went buy and the chicken grew up and then died. But the death was to much for her to handle and the chicken farmer and his wife now lay together in peace.

That is a very good opera, in my own, totally biased opinion.
